How to Care for Your Products
Leather Care
We use full grain leather, which is the highest grade of leather. Scrapes, scars and marks are normal and not considered a defect of the products. Exposure to water and other liquids can unfortunately leave permanent stains. If your bag is exposed to liquid, we recommend dabbing a dry cloth to the affected area to absorb as much moisture as possible. Most customers prefer to allow the natural wear of the bag to form, however if you wish to condition the bag, we suggest you test a small area prior to conditioning the entire bag.
Huipil Care
Huipils (pronounced wee-peel) are traditional textiles that go back centuries in Guatemala. The creation of each work of art can take up to one month for each one. Due to the nature of the handmade huipils, you may find loose threads or snags. This is normal, and the threads should only be snipped off. Do not pull the loose threads.

Your bag was crafted with care from high-quality, artisan leather. With the right care, it will age beautifully and last for years.
Daily Care
- Avoid Overstuffing: Maintain the shape by not overloading.
- Keep Dry: Wipe off moisture immediately with a soft cloth.
- Handle with Clean Hands: Oils and dirt can stain leather.
Cleaning
- Dust Regularly: Use a dry or slightly damp cloth.
- Spot Clean Gently: For light stains, use a damp cloth with mild soap. Avoid soaking.
- Condition Every Few Months: Use a leather conditioner to maintain softness and prevent cracking.
Storage
- Keep in a Cool, Dry Place: Away from direct sunlight or heat.
- Store in a Dust Bag: Or pillowcase to prevent scratches.
- Maintain Shape: Stuff with paper or fabric when not in use.
What to Avoid
- Prolonged exposure to sunlight
- Harsh cleaners or alcohol-based products
- Water saturation
- Storing in plastic (can cause mildew)
Weaving
- Weaved items are durable and can be spot cleaned with mild soap and damp cloth.
Never Machine Wash Any Grace & Fire Bags or Products.
