Last March, Kristin with the help of a good friend, was connected to a nonprofit organization in Guatemala. Two women, mothers, and seamstresses were working to make leather bags in a rural village. They were about to close shop when Kristin asked if they would be interested in making some leather bags to sell in the states. They obliged and the project was started. In May, Kristin flew to Guatemala to pick up the bags. The trip was full of walks on roads that would have never been hiked without being with Casa Tabito. There was so much to see and feel. She came home with a deep sense of compassion and far better understanding of the needs in this region.

Guatemala is a place of beauty and a place of hardship. It is a place of extreme poverty and resources are devastatingly hard to come by. Kristin learned on this trip that this is exactly where she was supposed to be. She put in another order before she went home, hired a branding agent, and with that Grace & Fire was born.

In her free time, Kristin cherishes moments with her family, enjoys hiking in the great outdoors, and finds balance and wellness through yoga. She is a shining example of how dedication to family, community, and personal growth can leave a lasting legacy.
